Īrticle’s abstract: This article takes into account the literary dystopias The Handmaid’s Tale (1985) by Margaret Atwood and Splinterlands (2016) by John Feffer, in order to analyse not only how the environmental crisis is presented in them, but also the social, cultural, religious and political issues which arise in its wake. Fields of research include: Victorian Literature and Culture, Vampire Fiction, Dystopian Studies and Video Game Studies, areas on which she has published and presented papers both nationally and internationally. She collaborates with the Centre for English, Translation, and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS) and is also a member of the Portuguese Association for Anglo-American Studies (APEAA). ![]() ![]() Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Modern Literatures and Cultures at Nova University of Lisbon, and she is conducting research on the concept of transgression in video games, having been awarded a PhD Studentship by the Portuguese funding institution FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia ().
